Dear Friends & Family,

WIZO (the Women’s International Zionist Organization) is an organization that runs day care centers and schools all over Israel that take care of children who may come from families that are living below the poverty line.  WIZO offers support to these families in many different ways. I have chosen a program that focuses on literacy skills for pre-school aged children called, "Sifriyat Pijama," which is known in the USA as PJ Library. The program gives children educated in WIZO centers the opportunity to learn early age literacy skills both in school with their teachers, and at home with their parents. Each child gets 8 high-quality picture books of their own to take home and read with their parents; for many the first chance to have books at home!

This past June, my family and I visited a WIZO Day Care Center in Jerusalem as part of my Bat Mitzvah trip where I read one of the books to a class of young children, in Hebrew! With the help of my brothers’ mitzvah projects, WIZO was able to make sure that all 5,800 children in all 175 day care centers benefitted from the "Sifriyat Pijama" Program for the last few years. It is important to me to make sure that next year’s class has the same  opportunity.  With your help, I know they will.

Love,
Marin
